Albany Engineered Composites (AEC) is one of the most technically advanced designers and manufacturers of lightweight composite aerospace structures, subassemblies, and components. For more than 50 years, AEC has innovated advanced composite solutions for defense and commercial industries in applications from large commercial transports to fighter jets and commercial and military rotorcraft.

AEC provides a wide range of products including complete structural assemblies, flight critical components, primary and secondary structural elements for platforms such as the F-35 Lightning II, the CH-53K Heavy-lift Helicopter and the Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile (JASSM).

Internship Opportunity: Maintenance Department

AEC SLC is supportive of student education through experiential development. We are currently looking for an intern to support various improvement projects in our Maintenance department.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Basic reading of blueprints to verify actuals in an industrial setting.
  • Updates drawings in AutoCAD/Solid Works under the direction of the facility Engineer.
  • Assists with installation and alteration of equipment, machinery, buildings, structures, and other facilities.
  • Gathers and reviews data concerning facility or equipment specifications to assist with PM procedures.
  • Reviews Maintenance spares for adequate descriptions.
  • Understanding of LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) and industrial hazards with equipment for safe placarding.
  • Gathering and analyzing data, blueprints, and reports to identify most effective methods for Facilities and related projects.
  • Communicates progress and issues as required.
  • Basic knowledge of PM (Preventive Maintenance) processes and component identification.
  • Interacts frequently with internal and external individuals from all aspects of the business to support the needs of production and the facility while providing detailed descriptions of the challenges and timelines.
  • Liaison with property management team to assist with accurate Asset audits.
  • Understanding of basic repair tools and techniques associated with facilities.

Shift Information

Shift: Day

Shift Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm

Qualifications

  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in a Business or Engineering role.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Basic actual knowledge of building processes and construction principles.
  • Project management skills.
  • Intermediate experience with AutoCAD, SAP, Microsoft Office, BMS systems and other design-oriented software, with an emphasis on Excel in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Basic mechanical and electrical skills and knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, and other building systems.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to complete multiple projects on schedule with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to commute to the facility.
