Litigation Legal Specialist | Google

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Google, located in Chicago, IL, Austin, TX, or Washington D.C. Google develops widely used technology and internet services. This position is central to the Litigation Team, supporting critical legal cases. The role requires a hands-on approach to manage legal processes and adapt to new challenges to support the success of the legal department.

• Mission: This person ensures smooth management of litigation processes, document handling, and discovery procedures for Google’s legal cases.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Legal Support: Assist Litigation Counsel with document preservation, collection, review, and production procedures, including evaluating new technologies and vendors.
• Team Collaboration: Work with the Litigation and Discovery teams, as well as other Google groups, to ensure internal systems align with discovery procedures.
• Document Management: Supervise document retrieval and document production, coordinating efforts with external legal counsel in litigation matters.
• External Coordination: Coordinate with external legal counsel on specific assignments, review preliminary advice, and provide internal recommendations.
• Project Support: Contribute to special project work, including data analytics and tooling development, adopting AI tooling and process improvement for scale.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience: 5 years of litigation experience with a law firm or in-house legal department.
• Skills: Excellent analytical skills for reviewing and organizing numerous documents in complex legal matters, exceptional communication skills, commitment to professionalism and collegiality, and a bias toward action and problem-solving.
• Bonus: 8 years of relevant work experience as a paralegal or legal assistant, including complex electronic discovery, Internet technology and patent litigation, or regulatory investigations. Willingness to embrace ambiguity and new challenges, finding solutions and using new tools (such as AI) to manage increasing scale.
