Planner Scheduler/Readiness Coordinator | FirstEnergy
The Tone:
This is a full-time, on-site position with Pennsylvania Electric, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp., located in Du Bois, PA. What You’ll Actually Do
• Plan and Schedule Operations: Provide reliable support to operations supervision by planning and scheduling activities, managing the work queue, staffing, equipment, materials, tools, switching orders, permits, and work package instructions for line facilities.
• Develop Work Plans: Create a firm two-week plan of assigned operations center activities and a one-month projection of future activities, providing management with daily work plans and job contingency strategies.
• Manage Resources and Schedules: Adjust the daily schedule based on changes in available resources or external conditions, reflect lines employees crewing and vehicle assignments in FEWS, and dispatch work to assigned crews.
• Coordinate External Activities: Participate in interactions with internal and external customers regarding construction and maintenance activities, coordinate work request activities, and ensure utility locates (OUPS, PA ONE CALL, MISO Utility Tickets) are completed.
• Analyze and Report Performance: Assist management by providing technical reports and metrics to ensure compliance with practices, interpret report analysis, and prepare recommendations.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology or a related discipline, or a minimum of 2 years of related work experience in planning/scheduling of work and knowledge of construction and maintenance practices.
• Experience: 0-1 years of related work experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or a minimum of 2 years of related work experience without a degree, demonstrating commitment to safety and ability to support operational processes.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook), knowledge of SAP, GIS, CREWS, FEWS, PowerOn, CAD/AutoCAD, and Energy Delivery Outage Application, along with solid verbal and written communication skills.
• Bonus: Experience with database query tools, and a strong desire to gain knowledge of planning/scheduling best practices, NESC, NEC, CGES, company operational handbooks, distribution design, and legal/regulatory requirements.
