Job Description
About Company
Friends of Animals’ Wildlife Law Program (WLP), established in 2013 and located in Greenwood Village, Colorado, serves a unique and vital role at the intersection of animal and environmental advocacy. The WLP addresses a critical gap where animal advocates may not fully leverage the comprehensive range of local, state, federal, and international environmental laws, and where environmental advocates’ broad objectives may not always directly protect the rights of free-living animals.
The program is guided by the fundamental principle that all animals have the right to live a meaningful life free from human exploitation. To uphold this principle, WLP attorneys dedicate their efforts to the defense of wildlife and their habitats across the globe. They achieve this by utilizing a diverse array of environmental laws, including, but not limited to, the Endangered Species Act, the Migratory Treaty Bird Act, the Wild Free-Roaming Horses & Burros Act, the Administrative Procedure Act, the National Environmental Policy Act, and international agreements such as the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). Through these legal avenues, Friends of Animals actively litigates matters in federal and state courts and engages in various non-litigation advocacy projects to promote and protect the rights of wildlife.
