Legal Intern | Evans & Dixon, LLC
The Tone:
This is an internship at Evans & Dixon, LLC, located in Joliet, IL. Evans & Dixon provides Midwest business clients with sophisticated legal advice, responsive communications, and hands-on industry knowledge, specializing in managing litigation and serving as outside general counsel. This role is a perfect opportunity for a law student to gain firsthand experience by providing essential support to the legal team, directly contributing to the firm’s practical and efficient approach to getting the job done.
The TL;DR

• Team: Supports a team of attorneys, paralegals, and supporting legal staff.
• Mission: To provide administrative, litigation, and ongoing research support to the legal team.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
What You’ll Actually Do
• Legal Research: Research legal issues, regulations, legal articles, and relevant supporting laws using online and offline sources.
• Case File Analysis: Analyze initial file contents, identify pertinent documents, and aid in drafting evaluations to clients.
• Document Preparation: Prep letters, documents, and forms; assist attorneys in preparing arguments, motions, contracts, and agreements; and summarize interrogatories, testimonies, and depositions.
• Record Management: File and organize exhibitions, briefs, appeals, and other legal documents, maintaining all records for each case.
• Administrative Support: Aid attorneys by scheduling interviews, meetings, and depositions with clients, witnesses, and outside parties, and monitor attorney deadlines and calendars.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Must be an active law student currently attending law school.
• Experience: Working knowledge of legal research using online and offline sources; working knowledge of legal terminology and legal writing.
• Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; ability to communicate effectively with senior management, outside counsel, medical facilities, and clients; ability to interact with individuals of all levels, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Bonus: Knowledge of medical terminology and medical records review is preferred; prior experience in the legal field is preferred.
