Description: Legal Intern
Spire is seeking a motivated student or recent graduate for a paid internship. This position offers learning and mentorship opportunities within the natural gas industry. Interns will work on various projects and administrative tasks, developing skills relevant to the legal department.
Requirements:
• Currently enrolled college student or graduate student.
• Availability to work up to 40 hours per week from May to August.
• Advanced Microsoft Office and Excel skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• High motivation and willingness to accept new challenges.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Research and draft memoranda on legal issues related to Spire’s utility operations.
• Assist with drafting and negotiating basic contracts.
• Support due diligence and closing efforts on financing and potential mergers and acquisitions (M&A) transactions.
• Assist in preparing data requests and testimony for state regulatory commissions.
• Collaborate with business partners during the contracting process.
• Work on a final presentation summarizing summer activities.

Required Education and Experience:
• Completion of at least the first year of law school at an ABA-accredited law school.
• Strong academic record preferred.
• Current 1L or 2L law student preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
• Work is typically performed in a shared office environment.
• Standard working hours are 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
• Occasional overtime may be required to meet deadlines.
• Limited local travel may be necessary.
