About the Role:

As a Legal Intern, you’ll be an integral part of a collaborative, agile team. We are seeking one or more motivated first-year law student(s) to join Security Benefit as a Summer Legal Intern. This is a rotational experience designed to give you broad exposure to the legal, financial, and operational dimensions of a leading annuity insurance company. Over eight weeks, you will work alongside professionals across multiple departments, developing a well-rounded understanding of how a sophisticated insurance enterprise operates. The Legal Intern position reports to the Assistant General Counsel and can be based out of our home office in Topeka, Kansas. We work a hybrid schedule, offering flexibility to work both remotely and on-site.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Current enrollment in an ABA-accredited law school (completion of 1L year by start of internship)
  • Strong academic record and demonstrated interest in business, finance, or regulatory law
  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills
  • Intellectual curiosity and the ability to manage multiple assignments across different teams
  • Prior experience in financial services, insurance, or a related field is a plus but not required
