2026 Internship, Fall – Legal | Red Bull New York

The Tone:
This is an unpaid, for credit internship at Red Bull New York (RBNY), located in Harrison, NJ, with a hybrid work environment requiring at least one office day between Tuesday and Thursday each week. RBNY is one of 30 Major League Soccer (MLS) teams and one of the league’s ten original charter clubs, founded in 1996. The team is owned by the Austrian beverage company Red Bull GmbH and plays its home matches at Sports Illustrated Stadium. RBNY’s First Team is a three-time MLS Supporters’ Shield winner, and its Second Team recently won the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro Championship. RBNY also operates one of the nation’s premier youth soccer development programs. This Legal Department Internship is designed to provide law school students with valuable in-house experience in sports and entertainment law. The role is crucial for learning how to provide legal support, advice, and counsel across the RBNY organization and its related operating affiliates in the United States.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Contract Management: Review, analyze, and draft various agreements including sponsorship, sales, vendor/service, player, transfer, loan, IP, and facilities license agreements.
• Dispute Resolution: Manage disputes, litigation, and regulatory matters as in-house counsel, with support from outside counsel, on an as-needed basis.
• Compliance Advisement: Review and analyze applicable rules, regulations, and policies from MLS and FIFA, and advise management on interpretation and compliance.
• Risk Management Support: Gain experience and exposure to risk management and insured risk/liability issues in collaboration with RBNY’s Risk Management team.
• Legal Counsel Development: Gain experience as in-house legal counsel within the sports and entertainment industries.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-level law school student, having completed first-year studies at an accredited law school.
• Experience: No prior professional legal experience is required; this internship is designed to provide initial in-house legal experience within the sports and entertainment industries.
• Skills: Exceptional written and oral communication for effective legal documentation and advice, strong attention to detail for reviewing and drafting legal materials, and demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills to tackle complex legal issues. The ability to multitask and manage competing priorities efficiently in an office setting is essential, alongside comfort with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams for daily tasks.
