Legal Assistant | Kennedys
The Tone:
This is a hybrid position at Kennedys, located in New York, NY, requiring a minimum of 3 days on-site. Kennedys is a global law firm with offices throughout the U.S. seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Legal Assistant. This role is crucial for providing comprehensive support to multiple attorneys, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and the efficient handling of litigation processes and court procedures.

• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Word, Excel, Outlook), iManage, Service Desk Plus
What You’ll Actually Do
• Support: Provide comprehensive support to multiple attorneys, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
• Drafting: Draft and proofread correspondences and legal documents like Pleadings, Answers, and Discovery demands/responses with high accuracy.
• Motions: Prepare and assemble materials for Motions, including proofing, gathering exhibits, and ensuring compliance with Judge’s rules.
• Case Management: Organize and maintain electronic case files via the firm’s iManage system and monitor deadlines for legal actions and trial dates.
• Coordination: Coordinate service of process for Summons, Complaints, and Subpoenas, following up for affidavits of service.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Mid-Senior Level. Strong understanding and knowledge of litigation processes and court procedures, particularly defense litigation.
• Experience: 5-7 years of experience in defense litigation; substantial experience in filing within New York state and Federal court systems.
• Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Word, Excel, Outlook); excellent proofreading skills with a meticulous eye for detail; ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively; strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Bonus: Insurance coverage experience.
