Lead Salesforce Software Engineer | Wellington Management

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Wellington Management, located in any Wellington Management office location. Wellington Management offers comprehensive investment management capabilities and builds solutions tailored to institutional clients globally. This role is crucial as a senior, hands-on technical leader with architectural ownership for Salesforce solutions, supporting client engagement and distribution capabilities across the firm. The position emphasizes technical depth, platform stewardship, and influence within the firm’s engineering career framework.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Architectural Ownership: Provide architectural ownership for Salesforce Sales Cloud and Force.com–based applications supporting client and distribution functions.
• Enterprise Alignment: Collaborate with other lead architects to ensure Salesforce designs align with Wellington’s broader enterprise architecture, integration patterns, and long‑term platform strategy.
• Technical Advisory: Act as a senior technical advisor, working directly with business partners and product teams to translate requirements into clear, well‑designed technical solutions.
• Standards & Review: Establish and uphold architectural standards and best practices for Apex, Lightning Web Components, integrations, data modeling, and security, and review significant enhancements.
• Mentorship & Compliance: Mentor engineers and administrators to raise overall Salesforce engineering and architecture maturity, ensuring solutions meet enterprise controls and data protection standards.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Proven experience operating as a lead-level individual contributor with responsibility for architectural decisions and technical direction; background in financial services or investment management, with exposure to complex business processes and regulatory considerations; strong understanding of Salesforce platform capabilities, including both declarative tools and custom development.
• Experience: 8+ years of experience in software engineering, including substantial experience designing and delivering solutions on Salesforce Sales Cloud and the Force.com platform.
• Skills: Deep technical expertise in Apex, Lightning Web Components, integrations (REST/SOAP), data modeling, and platform security; ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non‑technical audiences; ability to influence outcomes without formal authority.
• Bonus: Experience architecting Salesforce solutions supporting sales, client servicing, pipeline management, or related distribution capabilities; familiarity with enterprise integration patterns and multi-system environments involving Salesforce; experience working with globally distributed teams across regions and time zones; Salesforce certifications (e.g., Platform Developer, Application Architect, or System Architect); experience with Agentic Development Tools.
