Job Description, Detailed

The Office of the Queens County District Attorney is seeking Law Student applicants for the Fall Legal Internship program.

Job Title: Law Student Legal Intern
Type: Unpaid, Part-time Internship
Duration: The internship runs from September through December 2025, with flexibility to accommodate the student’s school schedule.
Work Schedule: Interns are required to work in person for a minimum of 12 – 15 hours per week.
Location: Interns will be assigned to a specific bureau within the Queens DA’s Office.
Purpose: The program is designed to provide current law students with an outstanding opportunity to gain practical experience and learn about the functions of the Queens DA’s Office. Interns will work directly with prosecutors.
Key Responsibilities/Activities (depending on bureau assignment):
• Conducting research and writing assignments for pending cases.
• Engaging in aspects of motion and discovery practice.
• Assisting with search warrant applications.
• Observing civilian and police interviews, as well as proffers.
• Making Court appearances pursuant to the student practice order.
• Visiting crime scenes.
• Participating in community outreach with the Community Partnerships Division (voluntary).
• Attending divisional and office-wide legal training sessions.
