This is a contract Law Clerk l role at eTeam, located in Washington, DC. eTeam is a company providing staffing and consulting solutions to its clients. This role is crucial for supporting appellate attorneys and litigation teams by ensuring thorough legal research, accurate statutory analysis, and precise preparation and review of appellate work products. The Law Clerk l contributes directly to the quality and compliance of legal filings.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Legal Research: Conduct substantive legal research on statutes, regulations, case law, legal authorities, and appellate precedent.
• Statutory Analysis: Perform statutory analysis and deeper review of case law to support appellate attorneys and litigation teams.
• Brief Assistance: Assist with the preparation, organization, review, and maintenance of appellate briefs and related filings.
• Citation & Formatting: Perform citation checking, validate legal references, and ensure Bluebook compliance across appellate work product.
• Quality Control: Review briefs and filings for formatting, accuracy, consistency, and overall quality control.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Requires a Juris Doctor (Law degree) or current enrollment in an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study. Academic legal training and familiarity with appellate practice, legal analysis, and case law review are essential.
• Experience: Requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources. Advanced experience using LexisNexis and other legal research tools to identify, validate, and organize relevant authorities is also required.
• Skills: Possess excellent written and oral communication skills, strong legal research skills, and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw. Proficiency with citation review, citation validation, and Bluebook formatting requirements, alongside strong attention to detail and quality control skills, is critical.
• Bonus: Experience supporting brief preparation, internal brief repositories, and appellate litigation work product is preferred.
