About the Job
Laboratory Technicians work under the direction of a staff member in an analytical, research (R&D), process and production support, or technical service laboratory or within a division technical staff group.
Responsibilities may include:
• Conducting technical experiments and projects
• Leading and participating on multi-disciplinary teams
• Working with quality systems or providing reports to governmental or regulatory agencies
• Developing hands-on and in-depth technical expertise
• Working in a fast paced, results-oriented team environment to assist in developing new technologies to provide solutions to customers’ needs
• Preparing and supporting new or established technologies for commercial products and processes that may include:
• Experimental materials and techniques
• Scale-up evaluations
• Analytical measurements
• Assisting customers with process optimization and new applications
• Dealing with customer inquiries/complaints
• Developing new formulations (i.e. fitness for use)
• May work directly with external and internal customers in answering technical questions
• Documenting experimental work and writing technical and invention reports
• Working safely and promoting a safe work environment
Qualifications
• Minimum of Associates Degree / Technical Diploma in a Scientific Field OR 4-year Degree in Scientific Field preferred
• Completed the following mandatory chemistry/scientific courses:
• General Chemistry I & Lab
• General Chemistry II & Lab
• Organic Chemistry I & Lab
• Organic Chemistry II & Lab
• Quantitative Analysis (this course can be completed on site)
• Formal training in general laboratory procedures
• Problem solving, math and science skills and familiarity with statistical methodology
• Initiative and the ability to work in a team setting. Clear and effective written and oral communication is essential
• General computer experience with relevant and Microsoft software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
