Junior Staff Accountant | Ascendo Resources
The Tone:
This is a full-time, hybrid role supporting Ascendo Resources’ client, a multi-company organization seeking a Junior Staff Accountant. The client is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join their Accounting team, working both in the office and remotely as required. This entry-level position plays a crucial support role within the multi-entity structure, with a primary focus on executing basic accounting tasks, assisting diligently with financial record maintenance, and actively contributing to the overall efficiency and smooth operation of essential accounting processes.

• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), various accounting software; prior experience with Great Plains is a plus.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Support: Assist diligently in daily accounting activities, providing essential support to senior accounting staff and management, and engage in cross-training for other departmental functions as necessary.
• Record Maintenance: Help maintain accurate financial records across the multi-entity corporation by assisting with the thorough analysis of balance sheet and general ledger accounts.
• Account Reconciliation: Actively participate in the systematic reconciliation of general ledger, subsidiary, and bank accounts to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Financial Closings & Audits: Support the preparation processes for annual audits, contribute to budgeting initiatives, and assist with year-end closings, ensuring all necessary documentation is in order.
• Special Projects & Compliance: Contribute to financial reporting and special projects as delegated by management, while consistently following internal accounting controls and complying with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
The Must-Haves
• Background: Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; recent graduates are encouraged to apply. Demonstrate a basic understanding of financial reporting and core technical accounting principles.
• Experience: 1-2+ years of relevant experience in an accounting or finance support role.
• Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines, detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and quality, excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook), and a professional demeanor for all stakeholder interactions.
• Bonus: Previous experience utilizing Great Plains or similar accounting software.
