Junior Software Engineer | SmartBear

SmartBear builds solutions that bring visibility and automation to software development, helping customers deliver high-quality software faster. This role is crucial for developing new products, including Agentic AI offerings, that fundamentally drive workflows for customers and contribute to SmartBear’s growth. Your contributions will be highly visible within the company, reaching the CEO and CTO weekly.

• Mission: Design and build robust and reliable services for SmartBear’s newest products, including Agentic AI offerings.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Build: Build new and ongoing products and services, including Agentic AI offerings, across SmartBear’s domains of API Design and Management, Testing, and Observability.
• Develop: Design and build robust back-end services to expose Generative AI capabilities to public-facing software products.
• Contribute: Write, review, and maintain production code daily, ensuring a standard of high engineering quality across the front-to-back-end stack.
• Innovate: Rapidly validate the feasibility of new use cases from research ideas and iterate on technical designs to improve the overall product experience.
• Deliver: Deliver working code on-time and own the experience post-production, consistently course-correcting to align with product strategy.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Early Career professional with a strong understanding of HTTP, REST, and client/server architecture.
• Experience: 1+ years in software development in a production environment, with a demonstrated ability to complete software projects individually and as part of a team.
• Skills: Ability to convert ambiguous or ill-defined requirements and problem statements into working code with quality, along with outstanding proactive communication skills in English.
