Junior Project Planner | Boston University Medical Campus

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Boston University Medical Campus, located 100% offsite at VA Hospital Boston. The Evidence, Policy, and Implementation Center (EPIC) at VA Boston Healthcare System is dedicated to building capacity across Veterans Health Administration (VA) research, focusing on state-of-the-art implementation science. This position supports Principal Investigators and Project Managers in meeting research project objectives, playing a crucial role in accelerating the translation of research discoveries and transforming healthcare and policy within the VA.

• Team: Supports Principal Investigators and Project Managers leading department teams within EPIC.
• Mission: Support research project objectives by performing research and administrative functions to enhance the real-world impact of research within the VA.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Research Documentation: Develop and draft research protocols, compile and submit new grant proposals ensuring continued funding, and prepare IRB and other required documentation to ensure all research efforts are compliant.
• Participant Engagement: Recruit and consent study participants, schedule research interviews and meetings, conduct semi-structured qualitative interviews, design and administer surveys, and manage all correspondence among all concerned parties.
• Data Management: Maintain all research databases, conduct literature and internet-based searches to ensure research is current and compliant, perform chart reviews to extract pertinent information, and review and edit all reports, posters, manuscripts, and presentations for accuracy.
• Data Analysis & Visualization: Analyze quantitative and qualitative data, utilize a mixed methods approach to data integration of survey and interview data, summarize findings for written reports and community presentations, and prepare visual representations of data (e.g., infographics, tables, graphs, and dashboards) using graphic design and data visualization skills.
• Logistical Coordination: Coordinate all site visits and focus groups, and compile information gathered from such groups for the research team.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Ability to perform a variety of research and administrative functions supporting Principal Investigators and Project Managers in leading department teams to meet research project objectives within a research and implementation science context.
• Experience: Experience in drafting research protocols, compiling grant proposals, preparing IRB documentation, recruiting and consenting study participants, conducting semi-structured qualitative interviews, designing and administering surveys, maintaining research databases, performing literature and internet-based searches, conducting chart reviews, and reviewing and editing reports, posters, manuscripts, and presentations.
• Skills: Qualitative interviewing, survey design, quantitative data analysis, qualitative data analysis, mixed methods data integration, graphic design, and data visualization.
