Junior Trader (Pop Culture Markets) | Goss

The Tone:
This is an entry-level, full-time role at Goss, offered in a fully remote environment. Goss is dedicated to building the future of entertainment prediction by transforming major pop culture moments into engaging, live prediction markets. From reality TV eliminations and celebrity relationships to viral TikToks and blockbuster premieres, Goss provides a platform where fans can actively predict the stories everyone is talking about. This role offers the unique opportunity to take ownership from day zero, helping to build a new product at the exciting intersection of entertainment, gaming, and social media. As a Junior Pop Culture Trader, you will be instrumental in identifying market opportunities, evaluating potential outcomes, and developing the prediction markets that power the core Goss experience.

• Mission: To proactively research pop culture events, analyze potential outcomes, and meticulously create and manage the prediction markets that drive the core Goss platform and user engagement.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Create and Manage Markets: Create, price, and actively manage a diverse range of prediction markets covering entertainment, reality TV, celebrity news, and social media narratives for the Goss platform.
• Research and Identify Opportunities: Conduct in-depth research into upcoming pop culture events, continuously monitor evolving trends, and proactively identify new, engaging prediction market opportunities.
• Monitor Online Landscapes: Monitor breaking news, emerging trends across social media platforms, and key online communities to stay informed and anticipate market shifts.
• Assess Probabilities: Carefully assess probabilities and potential outcomes for various events and stories, translating complex information into market-ready probabilities.
• Accurately Resolve Markets: Ensure accurate and consistent management and resolution of prediction markets, reflecting the final outcomes of pop culture events.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent); up to 1-2 years of professional experience.
• Experience: Demonstrated strong judgment and problem-solving skills; proven curiosity and a strong potential for growth within an evolving trading environment.
• Skills:
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, crucial for evaluating complex pop culture narratives.
• Excellent attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in market creation and resolution.
• Ability to communicate decisions clearly and confidently, even when operating with incomplete information.
• Comfort and aptitude for making timely decisions in scenarios where full data may not be available.
• Capability to thrive and contribute effectively within a fast-paced startup environment.
