The Tone:
This is a Junior Pet Stylist role at Petco, located in various Petco stores across the U.S., Mexico, and Puerto Rico. Petco is dedicated to helping pets live their best lives by providing trusted products, services, and expert support to nurture the pet-human bond. This role is crucial for individuals passionate about animals, offering a foundational training program to develop essential grooming skills and contribute directly to the well-being of pets.

• Mission: Learn fundamental grooming tasks and assist in the grooming process, prioritizing the comfort, safety, and well-being of pets while delivering optimal customer service to pet parents.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Perform initial grooming tasks: Learn and execute limited grooming services such as bathing, drying, nail trimming, brushing, ear, and gland cleaning, following pet parent instructions under close supervision.
• Prioritize pet well-being: Consistently ensure the well-being and safety of all animals in the salon, prioritizing their comfort during every stage of the grooming process.
• Provide excellent customer service: Interact professionally and effectively with pet parents, offering optimal customer service, addressing inquiries, and providing timely resolutions.
• Maintain salon hygiene: Ensure a clean and safe grooming environment by disinfecting tools, sanitizing equipment, and performing regular cleaning duties according to Petco’s hygiene policies.
• Support salon operations: Schedule grooming appointments, manage necessary paperwork, maintain accurate grooming records, and adhere to Petco’s grooming policies and standards.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-level position for individuals with a genuine passion for animals and a desire to pursue a career in pet grooming, with 0-1 year of animal-related experience such as shelter volunteering or pet sitting.
• Experience: Prior grooming salon assistance is preferred. Candidates must be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays, as required by the Pet Care Center’s grooming schedule.
• Skills: Capable of handling pets of all sizes and temperaments with care and empathy, possessing effective verbal and written communication skills, and a basic understanding of dog breeds, behavior, and common grooming practices.
• Bonus: A high-school diploma or GED is preferred, though not required.
