Junior Human Resource Specialist | GAP Solutions, Inc. (GAPSI)
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at GAP Solutions, Inc. (GAPSI), located within the United States or its Territories. GAP Solutions, Inc. supports federal agencies by providing essential operational and technical services, in this case, by strengthening the human capital functions of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). This role is crucial for applying comprehensive HR skills to support managers, program staff, and customers across the full spectrum of human resource topics within a federal government context. The specialist ensures efficient and compliant HR operations, directly contributing to the effective functioning of DHS/ICE.

• Mission: Apply HR skills to support managers, program staff, and customers across a full range of federal HR topics for DHS/ICE OHC/HROC.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office Suite, NFC, eOPF, WebTA, SharePoint, Oracle, Java Script, SQL
What You’ll Actually Do
• HR Operations: Process personnel and payroll actions, including complex pay, leave, and time and attendance administration, while resolving discrepancies and processing personal liability insurance claims.
• Record Management: Create and maintain critical HR records, including vacancy, retirement, and payroll folders, and scan documents into various personnel record systems.
• Policy & Guidance: Assist in drafting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), developing training and information for managers and employees, and researching federal HR topics, including waiver and hearing requests.
• Position Management: Conduct desk audits, review management requests for position management and classification actions, and prepare evaluation reports.
• Administrative Support: Provide comprehensive administrative support to managers and program staff, managing calendars, screening calls, making travel arrangements, and maintaining office files.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree required, or 3 years of federal Human Resources experience as an equivalent.
• Experience: 3 years of federal Human Resources experience (if no Bachelor’s Degree). Must be a U.S. citizen or Legal Permanent Resident, currently residing in the United States or its Territories, and have resided within the US for three or more years out of the last five. Capable of air travel.
• Skills: Intermediate to advanced technical proficiency in the full Microsoft Office Suite; strong written and oral communication skills; advanced presentation skills; advanced organization and leadership skills; ability to work effectively within a group or individually.
• Bonus: Delegated Examining Certification and/or HRM Certificate from an accredited academic institution; understanding and familiarity with industry best practices; exceptional time management skills; advanced knowledge of NFC, eOPF, WebTA, SharePoint, Oracle, Java Script, SQL depending on specific tasks.
