Junior AI Engineer | Tria Federal

The Tone:
This is an early career role at Tria Federal, located in Woodlawn, MD, focused on pushing the boundaries of artificial intelligence. Tria Federal delivers digital services and technology solutions for federal agencies, supporting the health and safety of veterans, service members, and civilians. This position involves designing and building intelligent software agents within Tria Labs, critical for redefining mission delivery and improving digital civic services for millions of Americans. The role aims to turn generative AI into active agents that perform where it matters most, supporting critical federal missions.

• Mission: Design and build agentic systems with outcome-focused intelligent software agents that reason, act, and collaborate to solve real-world problems for federal missions.
• Tech Stack: Python, Node.js, React, Angular, LLM APIs, AWS.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Build: Build intelligent agents that plan, reason, and interact with users, MCP Servers, and APIs, orchestrating complex business workflows using evolving agentic frameworks.
• Engineer: Engineer end-to-end products, from Python or Node.js backends to React or Angular frontend applications, embedding these agents into secure, mission-critical environments.
• Integrate: Integrate and experiment with leading AI platforms and Foundational Models to design multi-agent workflows and retrieval-augmented solutions.
• Prototype: Prototype rapidly, test ideas, and push from concept to pilot within an agile, builder-driven team.
• Apply: Apply responsible AI and security-minded design principles when building systems that interface with sensitive data and secure platforms.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Early career professional with a focus on delivering technology solutions for critical federal missions, requiring U.S. citizenship for security clearance.
• Experience: 2–3 years of hands-on experience building and deploying full-stack applications; practical experience with LLM APIs and generative AI frameworks, including having built or experimented with agentic systems, chat interfaces, or AI copilots.
• Skills: Full-stack development (Python, TypeScript, Node.js, React/Angular), LLM API utilization, generative AI frameworks, data and API orchestration (prompt management, evals, RAG, context handling), connecting AI reasoning to real systems.
• Bonus: Exposure to AWS or other cloud platforms for deploying and monitoring modern applications; SSDF awareness; a curious, autonomous, and initiative-driven approach to making AI tangible within small, multidisciplinary teams.
