Driver Check In Clerk | US Foods

The Tone:
This is a full-time, in-person role at US Foods. As a leading food distribution company, US Foods connects a diverse community of food people with essential supplies nationwide, serving a wide array of customers. This pivotal position, Driver Check In Clerk, is directly responsible for the precise processing and verification of all driver-returned products and associated digital and paper documentation. The accuracy and diligence applied in this role are critical for maintaining the division’s profit and loss (P&L) statements, ensuring inventory integrity, and guaranteeing accurate customer invoicing, thereby contributing significantly to the company’s operational efficiency and financial health.

• Team: Reports to the Transportation Manager and Day Warehouse Manager
• Mission: Ensure accurate processing of all driver-returned products and documents, including correct accounting codes, to maintain divisional P&L, inventory accuracy, and customer invoice precision.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Verification: Accurately verify all returned products for correct reason codes (e.g., mispicks, driver shorts, refusals), ensuring precise accounting data for division reports.
• Quality Control: Maintain product integrity by verifying that all returned products meet established temperature guidelines upon their return.
• Documentation Processing: Process all associated paper and digital documents for returns and adjustments to customer orders, ensuring both inventory and customer invoice accuracy.
• Product Disposition: Inspect all returned products to determine appropriate disposition (e.g., saleable, damage/recuperation, damage/out-of-code dumps) and apply correct coding.
• Operational Closure: Execute comprehensive end-of-day processes and reports, diligently researching and addressing all identified discrepancies.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A High School Diploma or equivalent is a required educational qualification for this position.
• Experience: None specified; however, familiarity with standard warehouse and delivery procedures is preferred.
• Skills: Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing, strong mathematical aptitude, excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail, basic computer proficiency, and the capacity to manage complex tasks while prioritizing workload effectively.
• Bonus: Familiarity with standard warehouse and delivery operational procedures.
