Maximus is seeking a highly motivated REMOTE IT Systems Analyst Intern. This role offers a unique opportunity to support systems implementation and software development efforts, contributing to crucial Medicaid, Medicare, and health insurance exchange solutions for Federal and State clients. As an intern, you will join a team of experienced Systems Analysts, actively participating in researching, analyzing, and documenting functional and non-functional requirements. A key aspect of this role involves leveraging AI-enabled tools to enhance the clarity, speed, and quality of delivery.
Beyond technical contributions, the selected intern will gain invaluable knowledge of general business principles, corporate organizational structure, and government process improvement. The summer program provides ample opportunities to meet, interact, and collaborate with diverse project teams, consultants, senior management, executives, and peers. Guidance and training on operations standards and protocols will be provided by a dedicated Manager.
This is a full-time, 40-hour per week commitment, with required availability during usual business hours (8 AM – 6 PM ET). The internship spans a 10-week summer program, commencing on Tuesday, May 26th, and concluding on Friday, August 7th, 2026.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work on IT assignments of moderate difficulty under the direction of a more senior mentor to build a well-rounded skillset.
- Escalate issues and questions to management, as necessary.
- Participate in group discussions with peers or external groups to solution problems of moderate scope.
- Participate in meetings to gain process knowledge and guidance on assigned projects.
- Read, understand, and perform assignments within prescribed guidelines.
- Approach challenges and create solutions with a critical thinking and customer service mindset.
- Prepare standard reports and presentation materials.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and requirement delivery.
- Research, analyze, and present data.
- Leverage AI to draft epics, user stories, and detailed acceptance criteria.
- Assist in identifying automation and AI opportunities.
- Support data readiness and documentation.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead presentations that demonstrate AI technologies and their use cases.
- Follow confidentiality and data protection policies.
- Validate AI-generated outputs for accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain traceability and documentation standards.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 0-2 years of relevant professional experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled and pursuing an Information Systems or similar degree.
- Knowledge of systems analysis, data modeling, or design principles.
- Understands the core AI concepts, including machine learning basics, model training, and data requirements.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Highly organized with ability to multitask.

- Passion for growth, development and learning new things.
- Knowledge or understanding of database query languages such as SQL is a plus but not required.
AI-Enabled Skills (Required):
- Experience using AI-assisted tools for documentation, analysis, and research.
- Ability to write and refine prompts for accurate AI outputs.
- Understanding data quality and why it matters for analytics and AI-supported decisioning.
- Awareness of responsible AI principles including privacy, bias, and security.
Pay Transparency:
Maximus compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to job location, a candidate’s education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value analysis including seniority and merit systems, as well as internal pay alignment. Annual salary is just one component of Maximus’s total compensation package. Other rewards may include short- and long-term incentives as well as program-specific awards. Additionally, Maximus provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off. Compensation ranges may differ based on contract value but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience. An applicant’s salary history will not be used in determining compensation. Maximus will comply with regulatory minimum wage rates and exempt salary thresholds in all instances.
Minimum Salary: $28.00 per hour
Maximum Salary: $30.00 per hour
