AI & Analytics Solutions Intern | UGI Energy Services

The Tone:
This is an internship at UGI Energy Services. UGI Energy Services, a subsidiary of UGI Corporation, is a leading supplier and marketer of natural gas, liquid fuels, renewable natural gas, and electricity across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern US, also operating critical midstream natural gas assets. This role is crucial in supporting the development and implementation of cloud-based AI automation solutions, focusing on utilizing Amazon Web Services. The intern will gain valuable hands-on experience within a dynamic energy company environment.

The TL;DR

• Mission: Support the development and implementation of cloud-based AI automation solutions.
• Tech Stack: AWS Bedrock, Lambda, Step Functions, Power BI, SQL Server, Python, S3, IAM

What You’ll Actually Do
• AWS Development: Support the development and rigorous testing of AWS Lambda functions, Step Functions workflows, and Bedrock-powered automation pipelines.
• Documentation & Design: Design and document AI use case specifications, including clear process flow documentation and precise technical specifications for automation candidates.
• Reporting & Query Optimization: Contribute to the development of Power BI reports and the optimization of SQL Server queries, including data validation, testing, and performance analysis.
• Data Pipeline Support: Participate in data pipeline development for cloud-based data lake initiatives, testing ingestion workflows, validating output data integrity, and assisting with troubleshooting.
• AI Research: Conduct in-depth research and proof-of-concept development on emerging AI/ML tools and new AWS services, summarizing key findings and presenting actionable recommendations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Computer Science, Data Science, or a closely related technical field.
• Experience: Completion of at least three years of undergraduate study is preferred. No prior professional experience is strictly required, though relevant coursework, personal projects, or prior internship experience in software development or cloud computing will be considered a significant advantage.
• Skills: Foundational knowledge of cloud computing concepts and AWS services (e.g., Lambda, S3, IAM, Step Functions, Bedrock), proficiency in Python for scripting, data processing, and automation, understanding of relational databases and basic SQL querying (SQL Server preferred), strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Bonus: AWS Cloud Practitioner certification (or currently in progress) is preferred.
