IT Software Development Intern | Mesirow Financial
The Tone:
This is an internship at Mesirow Financial, located in Chicago, IL. Mesirow is an independent, employee-owned financial services firm, founded in 1937, serving clients globally through its buy-side, sell-side, and advisory services. This role is designed for savvy, adaptable students passionate about technology and capital markets, providing practical, real-world experience within the IT department’s Software Development team.

• Mission: Gain hands-on experience by modifying and maintaining software applications and contributing to the development lifecycle.
• Tech Stack: C#, Python, SQL, JavaScript
What You’ll Actually Do
• Software Development: Modify and maintain existing software applications using C#, Python, SQL, and JavaScript.
• Code Translation: Translate business requirements into functional code.
• Support & Maintenance: Provide essential support and maintenance duties when required.
• Collaborative Requirements: Work closely with the software development team, end-users, and management to define project requirements.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Development, with a projected graduation date of May 2027 and a minimum GPA of 3.5. Possess sound programming fundamentals and a thorough understanding of Object-Oriented, Procedural, and Functional programming concepts.
• Experience: Familiarity with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and proven knowledge and experience in using all Microsoft Office products.
• Skills: Proficiency in C#, Python, SQL, and JavaScript, along with excellent analytical and math skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams, handle sensitive information confidentially, and interact professionally with various levels of personnel.
