Fall 2026 Intern – IT Applications | WD
The Tone:
This is an internship at WD, located in San Jose, United States. WD is a company that provides storage systems, combining engineering expertise with global manufacturing to build the infrastructure for the AI-driven data economy. WD delivers storage systems that make AI possible, powering hyperscale data centers, cloud platforms, and enterprise infrastructure worldwide. This role is a hands-on opportunity to support the transformation of manufacturing and MES applications from legacy to modern platforms, and to automate business processes and IT systems using current technologies, including AI/ML tools. It offers the chance to apply technical and communication skills to real-world challenges and make a tangible impact within a global organization.

• Mission: To transform manufacturing and MES applications and automate business processes and IT systems using modern technologies, including AI/ML tools.
• Tech Stack: .Net/C#, Java, Angular, React, Python, JavaScript, AI/ML tools, cloud computing platforms.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Support manufacturing IT application issue identification and improvement efforts.
• Gather requirements from cross-functional teams for ongoing manufacturing and MES IT projects.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of automated solutions using various tools and technologies.
• Support the development and delivery of communications and training materials to promote new self-service options for end users.
• Work with IT teams and managed service providers to identify and document high-priority automation opportunities.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Experience: Approximately 0–2+ years of relevant professional experience, typically aligned with early career stages.
• Skills:
• Basic programming skills in languages such as .Net/C#, Java, Python, Angular, React, or JavaScript.
• Basic understanding of process automation, scripting, or workflow tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with excellent attention to detail.
• Knowledge of IT infrastructure and cloud computing platforms.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
• Bonus: Relevant academic projects or personal technical initiatives.
