IT Intern | Northeast Georgia Health System

The Tone:
This is an internship at Northeast Georgia Health System. Rooted in a foundation of improving community health, this role offers a vital opportunity to develop IT knowledge and skills within a healthcare environment. As an IT Intern, you will work under the direct supervision of experienced IT professionals, contributing to the health system’s technological capabilities and gaining critical thinking associated with Information Technology competencies. This position allows students to apply academic learning in a practical setting, optimizing their understanding of Healthcare IT.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Location: In-person

• Team: IT team, reporting to an assigned preceptor, IT analyst, project manager, engineer, or trainer.
• Mission: To perform a variety of IT tasks within a defined scope of practice, supporting IT competencies and customer needs within a healthcare setting.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office products

What You’ll Actually Do
• Receiving guidance and direction from IT staff members, accepting and performing tasks as assigned.
• Performing basic technical skills and established IT procedures within the parameters of a skills checklist.
• Managing and prioritizing assigned tasks, demonstrating effective organizational and time management skills.
• Supporting customers within designated areas by adhering to standard work instructions for task management.
• Actively seeking learning opportunities through new work experiences and participating in team collaboration and process improvement activities.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Current student actively enrolled in a technical or undergraduate college program, majoring in computer science, engineering, informatics, data analytics, or another related field. Must possess a High School Diploma and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above. Proof of enrollment in an approved/accredited program is required prior to the internship start.
• Experience: Demonstrated academic experience associated with Information Technology coursework and content.
• Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office products; excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong attention to detail; ability to work well under pressure while meeting established timelines and deadlines; strong organizational and time management skills.
• Bonus: Previous job-related experience.
