Job Description (IT Intern – Short-Term)

This is a short-term internship assignment for a qualified college student, primarily focusing on one or two IT projects that are to be completed and deployed within the assignment period of 3 months.

Internship Overview & Goals:

Practical Application: The core purpose is to provide an opportunity to utilize and correlate IT-related skills learned in school within a setting that supports pharmaceutical manufacturing, specifically in areas related to Quality, Manufacturing, and general user community support.
Skill Development: Interns will gain practical experience in applying their academic knowledge to real-world scenarios.
Industry Understanding: Interns will develop a better understanding of the work environment in a specific role and how it contributes to a biotech manufacturing setting, preparing them for future careers in this field.
Collaboration: The role offers opportunities to work with other interns and various departments within Takeda.
Program Structure: The 12-week program challenges interns through daily responsibilities, participation in special projects, and involvement in a cross-functional community service project. Each intern is assigned a peer mentor to help them integrate into Takeda’s corporate culture and values.
Development Commitment: Takeda is committed to developing interns through formal training and on-the-job experiences, focusing on areas relevant to their education and teamwork, and exposing them to Takeda’s technologies and global environment.

Key Responsibilities/Qualifications:

The intern will be expected to:
• Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of business reporting and analytics solutions, including dashboards and tools that enhance visibility into site operations and business processes.
• Support data preparation, cleaning, and transformation activities, and participate in building and testing data pipelines and workflows across data warehouse and pipeline management tools.
Partner with cross-functional colleagues (e.g., Quality, Manufacturing, Business Excellence, IT) to gather reporting requirements and deliver actionable insights.
• Upon execution and/or deployment of assigned project(s), prepare a presentation to be delivered to stakeholders and business partners.
Provide a handover of the digital solution for corresponding local and/or Global IT teams for further development or maintenance.

Job Requirements:

Academic Performance: Strong academic performance with a minimum GPA of 3.0 is required.
Interpersonal & Team Skills: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, often cross-functional environment.
Communication & Organization: Demonstrated excellent skills in oral and written communication, organization, and task prioritization.
Work Ethic: Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Essential Software Skills: Demonstrated knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Required Skills/Tools: Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Windows PowerShell, Command Prompt, and basic hardware/peripheral usage.
Programming Languages (all not required, but beneficial): SQL, Python, HTML/CSS/SCSS, Dax, QlikScript, C#, and C++.
Nice-to-Have Skills/Tools: Power BI, QlikSense, RPA Automation, Power Automate, GitHub, SourceTree, ReactJS, NumPy, Axios, Firebase, FileZilla, Figma, Postman, Trello, Teams.

Education Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Current sophomore and junior year students are strongly preferred, or seniors transferring to a master’s or PhD program.
• Applicants must be pursuing a degree in Computer Sciences, Information Technology, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Biochemistry.

Internship Eligibility & Logistics:

Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship.
Enrollment Status: Must be currently enrolled in a degree program, with a graduation date of December 2026 or later.
Duration: The internship program is 10-12 weeks long.
Start Dates: The intern must commit to one of two timeframes: May 26th – August 14th OR June 15th – August 21st.
Work Schedule: Able to work full-time (40 hours a week) during the internship dates.
Housing/Relocation: Takeda does not provide a housing stipend or relocation support for the U.S. Summer Internship Program.

Compensation and Benefits:

Location: The internship is located in USA – CA – Los Angeles.
Hourly Wage: The estimated U.S. hourly wage range is $21.00 – $46.00. The actual hourly wage offered will depend on the candidate’s school year/level following the completion of the internship, and will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements.
Internship Benefits (vary by location): May include paid sick time, Civic Duty paid time off, participation in company volunteer events and special events, access to on-site fitness centers (where available), and a Commuter Benefit to offset work-commute expenses for public transportation or parking.
