Job Description

Job Title: IT Intern

Location: Philadelphia, PA (based in FIRE’s office in Old City, Philadelphia)

Internship Period:
• Starts in Fall 2025.
• Hours and exact start/end dates are flexible to accommodate the intern’s academic calendar.

Compensation: $17.00 per hour

Position Overview:
This internship offers a comprehensive experience designed to familiarize the individual not only with FIRE’s day-to-day activities but also with the underlying moral and intellectual foundations of its work. The role provides exposure to a variety of robust IT solutions, including mobile device management, enterprise cloud solutions, and best-in-class user experience and support.

Key Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
• Performing daily operational tasks such as answering phones, dispatching IT support tickets, and assisting with general user experience issues.
• Conducting research on various IT-related topics to support organizational needs.
• Performing basic administration and data maintenance duties within the organization’s CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system.
• Performing basic administration duties related to the organization’s website.
• Undertaking other duties as assigned to support the IT department and organization.

Required Qualifications:
A successful candidate will possess:
• Excellent computer skills, specifically with Mac operating systems.
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and the Google Workspace/Gmail platform.
• Comfortable working with Excel or Google Sheets for data management.
• Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to effectively interact with a diverse range of stakeholders across all organizational levels.
• Strong organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• The capability to work effectively and efficiently independently.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior experience in an IT support role or demonstrated troubleshooting experience.
• A clear understanding of and enthusiasm for FIRE’s mission.
• Experience with Salesforce or other CRM and data management platforms.
• Previous student leadership experience.

Office and Position Details:
Office Location: FIRE’s office is situated in Old City, Philadelphia.
Commuting: The office is easily accessible for commuters via SEPTA regional rail, subway, bus service, or PATCO rail service. Various parking lots and garages are available in the area, with daily rates typically ranging from $15 to $30.
Work Environment: The IT Intern will work in a standard office environment.
Equipment: The role requires the use of personal computers, copy machines, and telephones.
Physical Requirements: The position may occasionally require lifting objects weighing up to 30 pounds. On certain occasions, the intern may be asked to perform errands that involve walking to locations within the immediate vicinity of the FIRE office.
Performance Evaluation: Students will undergo evaluations at regular intervals throughout the internship.
Future Employment Potential: Highly successful candidates *may• be invited back for future internship experiences or offered a part-time position; however, further employment is not guaranteed.
