Investment Banking & Capital Markets – Banker – Financial Institutions Group (Insurance) Vice President | Deutsche Bank

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Deutsche Bank, located in New York. The company’s Investment Banking & Capital Markets business is designed to provide a full range of investment banking products and services to large-cap and mid-cap corporates and financial sponsors globally. Offering comprehensive financial advisory and capital raising services, including mergers & acquisitions (M&A) and restructuring advice, it is underpinned by one of the world’s largest and most successful debt and equity capital markets platforms. This Vice President role is crucial for executing complex transactions within the Financial Institutions Group, specifically focusing on the insurance sector, enabling the completion of large, multi-dimensional cross-border, and regional deals that drive significant client value.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support Transaction Execution: Assist in the execution of live transactions for the Financial Institutions Group (FIG) coverage team.
• Apply Methodologies: Utilize financial, economic, quantitative, and qualitative methods and principles to evaluate and execute acquisitions, financings, and equity raising transactions.
• Develop Financial Models: Create and apply advanced financial analyses and models relevant to deal execution.
• Report Client Interactions: Produce final reports of client interactions and discussions for senior management and ensure continuous communication.
• Prepare Client Materials: Develop detailed memoranda and presentations, and conduct analysis of key client company attributes.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree required, with an advanced degree preferred, coupled with an academic and/or work background in the Financial Institutions Group (FIG) / Insurance sector. This includes exposure to insurance brokers, InsurTech, insurance services, or traditional insurance carriers.
• Experience: Proven experience in investment banking, specifically providing quantitative and analytical support for both M&A and capital markets transactions, such as IPOs, equity follow-ons, investment grade, and leveraged finance debt offerings. The role requires experience supporting senior bankers across all stages of a transaction lifecycle, from pitching and bake-off to preparing marketing materials, financial models, and deal execution. Demonstrated leadership skills, capacity for initiative, and the ability to maintain confidentiality with senior-level management are also essential.
• Skills: The capacity to create a positive, effective work environment conducive to open communications and collaborative problem-solving.
• Bonus: Preferred Series 79 and 63 licensing, alongside a demonstrated ability to perform detailed financial modeling and valuation analyses on public and private companies, and conduct in-depth company and industry research to support live deal execution and pitches.
