Investment Banking Associate Corporate Finance – Consumer & Retail | Citizens

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Citizens. Citizens operates a rapidly growing investment banking platform, holding market-leading positions in middle market corporate and sponsor-backed transactions, complemented by strong public equity research. This Associate role is pivotal for supporting senior professionals in industry-focused client advisory and for originating and executing capital markets and M&A transactions. The position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to significant financial strategies and transactions while developing junior talent within a supportive and collaborative environment.

• Team: Consumer and Retail group, collaborating with Debt Capital Markets, Equity Capital Markets, M&A product groups, Sponsor Coverage, and Corporate Banking teams, while supervising analyst-level bankers.
• Mission: Support senior professionals in client advisory, originating and executing capital markets and M&A transactions to help clients achieve financial and strategic objectives.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Partner with senior bankers and product groups to develop new business ideas, pitch strategies, and transaction financing scenarios for corporate clients and financial sponsors.
• Perform extensive financial statement modeling for various transaction scenarios and conduct comprehensive company and industry research to analyze output and client information.
• Prepare pitch materials for client meetings and detailed transaction marketing materials including confidential information memoranda and management presentations.
• Manage transaction screening, credit/underwriting approval processes, and participate in accounting, business, and legal due diligence throughout execution.
• Supervise and develop analyst-level bankers, providing leadership throughout the transaction execution process.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Undergraduate degree with a strong academic record, demonstrating an aptitude for quantitative and qualitative analysis with a solid understanding of financial statements and financial modeling.
• Experience: 3+ years of direct experience in M&A, Corporate Finance, Leveraged Finance or Capital Markets.
• Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, strong analytical capabilities, and proficiency in financial modeling.
• Bonus: MBA is a strong plus, attendance in a formal investment or corporate banking training program preferred, and FINRA Series 79 (or 7) and Series 63 licenses or willingness to obtain within the required timeframe.
