The Tone:
This is a full-time Investment Banking Associate role at Selby Jennings, located in Atlanta, GA. Selby Jennings is partnered with an elite boutique investment bank, a firm dedicated to providing specialized financial advisory services within the Business Services sector. This role is crucial for expanding the bank’s capacity to execute significant sell-side M&A deal flow and support its senior leadership in complex transactions. The Associate will have the opportunity to work alongside highly experienced bankers, gaining valuable hands-on experience and contributing directly to key advisory initiatives.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Research & Analysis: Conduct thorough research and prepare detailed analyses on target companies, various industries, prevailing capital markets conditions, historical financial performance, and prospective financial data.
• Financial Modeling: Develop robust financial models, perform in-depth valuation analyses, and conduct assessments of debt and capital adequacy for a range of transaction types.
• Transaction Support: Actively support the comprehensive transaction due diligence process and assist in the execution of all related project tasks, ensuring smooth deal progression.
• Presentation Preparation: Assist in researching and preparing compelling pitch books for prospective clients, developing materials for specific industry focuses, and supporting broader advisory initiatives.
• Team Leadership: Mentor junior analysts and interns, providing guidance and support to foster their professional development within the investment banking environment.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a closely related field. This role requires a mid-career professional with a strong academic foundation in financial principles and practices.
• Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of dedicated investment banking experience is a strict requirement. Candidates must demonstrate proven success in executing both financial and operational due diligence within prior roles.
• Skills: Strong proficiency in financial modeling, comprehensive financial statement analysis, and various valuation techniques is essential. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary for client interaction and internal reporting. The ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously under pressure and consistently meet deadlines is critical.
• Bonus: A proven ability to contribute positively and effectively within a collaborative, team-oriented work environment is highly valued.
