This Investment Banking Analyst position in the Venture Capital Coverage Group sits at the intersection of venture capital, emerging technology, and Citi’s global platform. The role is crucial for partnering with leading venture capital firms and their portfolio companies, connecting the venture ecosystem to Citi’s full capabilities—including investment banking, capital markets, and a differentiated internal technology platform—to help companies scale from early growth through exit. It offers a front-row seat to innovation, providing direct exposure to hundreds of venture-backed companies and emerging technology trends, while influencing outcomes at scale.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Pipeline Management: Maintain a real-time view of VC fund activity, portfolio company developments, and founder engagement, ensuring senior bankers are consistently prepared with actionable insights.
• Insight Generation: Analyze portfolio companies, sector trends, and emerging technologies to identify patterns and opportunities across the VC ecosystem that inform client discussions.
• Network Development: Facilitate high-value introductions between VC clients, founders, and Citi’s broader platform, including its bankers, engineers, and venture teams, acting as a central node linking internal capabilities to external opportunities.
• Execution Support: Contribute to financing, M&A, and strategic advisory processes and prepare clear, high-quality materials for client meetings and pitches.
• Platform Enhancement: Improve internal workflows and reporting using data and AI tools, and help scale how the team tracks relationships, insights, and activity.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in institutional banking.
• Experience: 1–2 years of experience in investment banking, venture capital, growth equity, or technology.
• Skills: Analytical mindset with the ability to synthesize large amounts of information into clear insights; highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple relationships and workstreams simultaneously; clear, concise communication (written and verbal); intellectually curious and comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment.
• Bonus: Strong interest in venture capital and the startup ecosystem; ability to obtain FINRA 79, 63, SIE licenses upon hire.
