Investment Analyst | Oval Park Capital

The Tone:
This is a full-time, Partner-track role at Oval Park Capital, located in Raleigh, NC. Oval Park Capital is an early-stage venture capital firm focused on backing breakthrough physical and industrial technology startups that solve complex global problems. This role is crucial for driving the firm’s next phase of growth as it raises and deploys its next committed venture fund. Analysts are hired with the expectation of building a long-term investing career at the firm, with direct mentorship and involvement in all aspects of the venture investment process.

• Mission: This person will contribute across the entire investment process, helping the firm back breakthrough physical and industrial technology startups and supporting portfolio growth.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Pipeline Management: Help build and maintain the active deal pipeline, conducting initial screenings and structuring assessments of new prospects for deeper diligence.
• Due Diligence Execution: Take ownership of specific diligence workstreams, including building financial models, constructing cap table waterfalls, and conducting market and competitive research.
• Investment Documentation: Contribute substantively to investment memos and committee materials, drafting sections on market analysis, financial projections, and risk assessment.
• Portfolio Support: Assist with portfolio company engagement by analyzing KPIs, preparing board materials, and contributing to projects like financial model refreshes and go-to-market analyses.
• Sector Expertise Development: Develop and maintain expertise in focus sectors such as advanced manufacturing and AI infrastructure, conducting deep-dives and identifying thematic investment opportunities.

The Must-Haves
• Background: 1–2 years of professional experience in investment banking or an in-house corporate development team.
• Experience: Clear preference for experience in hardtech, industrials, energy, or specialist M&A advisory roles related to advanced manufacturing, defense, aerospace, climate, materials, semiconductors, or automation.
• Skills: Financial modeling, market sizing and competitive landscape research, due diligence execution, analytical synthesis, and clear written communication.
• Bonus: Strong personal or professional ties to North Carolina and the Southeast are encouraged; a thoughtful reason for wanting to focus on physical and industrial technology, especially from a TMT/tech coverage background.
