Investment Analyst – Private Markets | JM Family Enterprises, Inc.

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at JM Family Enterprises, Inc., located in a hybrid work arrangement. JM Family manages significant investment portfolios across Corporate, Insurance, Pension, and 401k assets. This position is critical for supporting the Investment Team in evaluating new investment opportunities, overseeing current portfolio holdings, and performing specialized research to meet portfolio objectives. The role directly contributes to the management of diverse asset classes including private equity, venture capital, private credit, and public markets.

• Mission: Supports the Investment Team in managing JM Family’s investment portfolios across various asset classes by underwriting, monitoring, and researching investments.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Investment Monitoring: Responsible for investment monitoring activities for existing investments by attending review meetings, preparing detailed research notes, and integrating forecasting into performance monitoring systems to ensure ongoing oversight.
• Due Diligence & Underwriting: Support the due diligence underwriting process for new investments by thoroughly assessing fund offering documents, private placement memorandums, and detailed financial models to inform investment decisions.
• Performance Evaluation: Evaluate investment performance with established metrics, including benchmarks, expected risks, returns, and specific strategies, to ensure investments perform as expected, enable timely corrective actions, and minimize negative exposure.
• Reporting & Research: Prepare comprehensive insights regarding investment portfolio performance, encompassing analytics, exposure, and various reports, and conduct industry, market, and manager-level research to support broader investment and portfolio construction decisions.
• Operational & Committee Support: Work collaboratively with the Investment Operations team regarding the reconciliation of transactions, valuations, and investment returns across systems, and assist with the preparation of content for critical Investment Committee meeting materials.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
• Experience: 3+ years of related investment management / analytical experience; familiarity with private markets investing and/or institutional portfolio management.
• Skills: Strong quantitative analytical skills; exceptional written and verbal communication; ability to work independently or with a team; exceptional knowledge of MS Office Products and specialized investment management tools such as NASDAQ TopQ, Pitchbook, FactSet, and DealEdge.
• Bonus: CFA or CAIA designation, or progress toward completion.
