Internship Project: Vendor Risk Assessment & GRC Optimization

This internship offers an immediate opportunity to contribute to critical operations within enterprise risk management and healthcare compliance. You will work under the supervision of current management to support vendor risk assessment operations and GRC platform optimization.

The Challenge

Currently, a backlog of over 120 pending vendor risk assessments creates significant compliance risk and operational inefficiency. Resource constraints limit our ability to maintain optimal assessment velocity, ensure timely vendor follow-up, and uphold platform data quality across our Whistic and LogicGate GRC platforms.

Your Impact & Project Goals

As an intern, you will play a crucial role in addressing these challenges by focusing on the following key objectives:

  • Backlog Reduction: Reduce the assessment backlog by 30-40% (approximately 40-50 assessments completed).
  • Efficiency Improvement: Improve vendor response time from 21 days to 14 days.
  • Data Integrity: Clean up 100% of identified data integrity issues in GRC platforms.
  • Process Enhancement: Establish a systematic business owner engagement framework.

This project delivers immediate operational relief while strengthening BCBSA’s cybersecurity talent pipeline and employer brand. It provides invaluable hands-on experience in enterprise risk management within a healthcare compliance environment, complemented by a commitment to meaningful hybrid mentorship (in-office 3-4 days/week).
