Business Development & Social Media Marketing Intern | Garment Valet

The Tone:
This is an internship at Garment Valet, located in Boston, MA. Garment Valet is Boston’s trusted laundry and dry cleaning delivery service since 1999, recently voted the Best of Boston by *Boston* Magazine in 2025. This role is part of a student-powered growth team, offering real-world experience in graphic design, digital content creation, branding, and social media strategy. The intern will contribute to refreshing a familiar Boston name while gaining exposure to the inner workings of a small business in a comfortable, startup-style environment.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Type: Minimum 20 hours/week, 100% in-person, one semester
• Location: In-person, Boston, MA

• Team: Intern cohort, working as a team, mentored by the company owner (Northeastern alum)
• Mission: Expand Garment Valet’s reach, increase revenue and engagement, and shape the company’s evolving brand identity across platforms.
• Tech Stack: Canva, Adobe, Canva AI, ChatGPT/Claude, image/video generation, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, Threads

What You’ll Actually Do
• Social Media Management: Manage Garment Valet’s presence across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Threads, experimenting with new formats and trends.
• Content Creation: Design and produce eye-catching graphics, animations, reels, short-form videos, and digital/print marketing materials for various audiences.
• Brand Refresh: Contribute to modernizing visual elements, designing signage, flyers, and pop-up materials, and enhancing retail store aesthetics.
• Marketing Strategy: Brainstorm, pitch, and help plan new ideas for services, campaigns, customer engagement, and local networking events.
• Business Operations Exposure: Participate in administrative tasks, research, and fieldwork to gain knowledge in sales, marketing, and small business operations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Students interested in graphic design, digital content creation, branding, social media strategy, small business ownership, efficiency initiatives, or business development.
• Experience: Comfortable creating short-form video content for platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels.
• Skills: Proficiency with Canva, Adobe, and similar design platforms, along with strong organizational skills and follow-through.
• Bonus: Comfort with or interest in AI-assisted content tools, an outgoing and social personality, and motivation to meet new people in the Boston area.
