Job Description: Internal Communication Specialist Intern

This internship is a full-time, 10-week position typically offered during the summer months. The internship does not guarantee employment after completion. The Intern will work with one or more supervisors/managers to gain exposure to Pennymac’s business model and the mortgage banking industry. They will also develop analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

• Identify and write stories for internal distribution, publishing them to the company intranet.
• Copywrite, design, and execute email campaigns.
• Identify, develop, and deploy communication strategies for all site locations for management review.
• Develop communications that engage employees and corporate culture initiatives.
• Manage internal communication and outreach through the company intranet, closed-circuit TVs, etc.
• Copyedit, proofread, and revise communications from various sources.
• Participate in developing a communication plan.
• Ensure communications align with the organization’s strategic vision/plan.
• Support communication strategy and content with research and industry news.
• Manage internal communication output.
• Set scheduled timing of communication releases.
• Ensure consistent framing of messaging.
• Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
• Demonstrate behaviors aligned with the organization’s desired culture and values.

Qualifications:

• HS Diploma or Equivalent work experience.
• Intermediate-to-advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access and SQL is a plus).
• Ability to work well as part of a team.
• Skills in problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution.
• Organizational and project management skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal communications.
• High standard of professionalism.

Compensation:

• $41,600 – $83,200 per year.
• Individual salary may vary based on multiple factors including specific role, geographic location / market data, and skills and experience.
• Some roles may be eligible for performance-based compensation and/or stock-based incentives awarded to employees based on company and individual performance.
