Position Summary: Summer Intern Scientist, Analytical Sciences

Rocket Pharmaceuticals is excited to offer a paid 10-week summer internship specifically designed for university students eager to gain invaluable hands-on experience within a fast-paced biotechnology environment. This exceptional opportunity allows interns to work directly alongside experienced professionals who are passionately dedicated to advancing curative gene therapies for patients battling devastating diseases.

We are actively seeking a highly motivated, hands-on Intern Scientist to join our critical Analytical Sciences team. The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to learn and actively support assay development crucial for the company’s extensive portfolio of preclinical and clinical-stage biologics across various gene and cell therapy programs. This role requires a foundational understanding of biochemistry and molecular biology principles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct laboratory support for the execution and analysis of key analytical assays, including real-time PCR (qPCR), High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)/Ultra-Performance Liquid Chromatography (UPLC), and Capillary Electrophoresis (CE).
  • Meticulously maintain accurate, detailed, and timely laboratory notebooks and documentation in accordance with established protocols and good laboratory practices.
  • Actively collaborate and communicate effectively with other members of the Analytical Sciences team to ensure the smooth, efficient, and safe operation of the laboratory.

Qualifications:

  • Currently an Undergraduate rising junior or senior BS student with a strong academic record.
  • Possess a minimum of 6 months of prior hands-on laboratory experience, demonstrating practical skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles and practical applications of real-time PCR, liquid chromatography (HPLC/UPLC), and capillary electrophoresis assays.
  • A proven self-starter with the ability to function effectively and productively under minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, with a specific focus on word processing, document formatting, creating and managing tables, developing spreadsheets, crafting compelling presentations, integrating graphics, utilizing slide masters, and working with templates. Additionally, proficiency in Adobe Acrobat is required.
  • Ability to handle issues appropriately, efficiently, and with a strong sense of urgency when required.
