Intern, Restructuring Tax Services – Multiple Locations Summer 2027 | Alvarez & Marsal

• Team: Restructuring Tax Services (RTS) team of specialized tax professionals
• Mission: Protect and unlock tax attribute value, liquidity, and long-term enterprise value across every stage of the restructuring process for financially stressed and distressed companies.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support: Support the team in advising public and private companies on restructuring tax issues including cancellation of debt income (CODI), significant debt modifications, and consolidated attribute reduction.
• Research: Conduct research and analysis on relevant tax code sections and regulations.
• Prepare: Prepare and circulate summaries of relevant financial information on public and private companies.
• Model: Build and maintain financial models and management presentations.
• Contribute: Support general business development as the practice continues to grow.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related analytical fields. Must be pursuing an Advanced Degree/Certification (CPA, MST, MAcc, JD or LLM), or have taken steps to earn one. Earliest eligible graduation date is December 2027, and latest is July 2028.
• Experience: High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Must be authorized to work in the US without the need for employment-based sponsorship now or in the future.
• Skills: Strong interest in taxation and financial restructuring (e.g., Chapter 11 proceedings). Ability to work in a time-sensitive environment, demonstrating detail-oriented, resourceful, and strong quantitative capabilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to articulate complex information.
• Bonus: Foundational understanding of financial statements, fixed-income securities, and corporate taxation preferred.
