What You’ll Actually Do
• Collaborate: Work closely with a diverse team of news professionals including reporters, anchors, producers, editors, and photographers both in-house and in the field, gaining exposure and networking with seasoned professionals.
• Produce: Receive comprehensive training on various news production aspects, including how to produce a news segment from the control room, and how to research and pitch compelling story ideas.
• Operate: Gain practical experience operating camera equipment and understanding the strategic importance of different shots in news coverage.
• Develop: Participate in news reporting and journalism tasks, building a professional portfolio with published work under the mentorship and guidance of experienced journalists.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Student currently attending an accredited college or university, eligible to receive college credit for participation in this internship. Candidates should be actively planning and preparing for a career in news.
• Experience: Willingness to work approximately 15 hours per week for a period of 10 weeks, with the understanding that hours may vary due to news programming schedules. Must be at least 18 years of age and possess reliable transportation to commute to and work from the Mishawaka, IN location.
• Skills: Possess a strong drive to learn the many different areas of news production and excel in an active, fast-moving environment.
