Intern, IT

The Washington Commanders Football team is seeking a full-time Intern to join the IT team. This internship offers a unique opportunity for individuals pursuing a degree in IT or those up to one year post-graduation to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic professional sports environment.

Anticipated Internship Dates: May 2026 – April 2027

Commitment: Full-Time Internship (40 hours/week)

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Technology staff to manage basic trouble tickets and service requests, providing initial support and resolution.
  • Assist in the comprehensive support of the organization’s phone system, including desk phones and cell phones.
  • Participate in the annual computer refresh program, including the distribution of new PCs and laptops to staff.
  • Plan, design, and implement special IT projects under the guidance of experienced IT staff members.
  • Contribute to initiatives aimed at improving the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the Washington Commanders IT organization.
  • Prepare clear and concise documentation for IT policies and procedures, ensuring up-to-date and accessible resources.
  • Provide general assistance with various IT projects as needed, supporting the team’s objectives.

Requirements

  • Education: Candidate must be currently pursuing a degree in IT or be up to 1-year post-graduation in an IT-related field.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Familiarity with computer hardware and software.
    • Proficient experience with Microsoft Office suite of applications, particularly Word, Excel, and Microsoft Edge.

    • Strong interpersonal skills with a genuine desire to work collaboratively with people across all departments.

  • Problem-Solving & Organization:
    • Analytical and structured approach to problem-solving.

  • Physical Demands:
    • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and handle physically challenging tasks as required for equipment setup and maintenance.
  • Work Ethic & Environment:
    • Desire to gain practical experience as a computer service professional in a demanding, yet highly rewarding industry.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, effectively managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
    • Availability to work during standard support hours (Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM), along with occasional after-hours and weekend support as operational needs dictate.
  • Commute: Ability to commute periodically to Headquarters in College Park, MD, and Commanders Field located in Landover, MD.
  • Other: Perform other duties as assigned by IT staff.
