This document describes the role of an Intern, Compliance within Molina Healthcare’s Internship Program.

Job Summary

The Molina Healthcare Internship Program is designed as a foundational experience for students aspiring to become professionals and future leaders in the healthcare business. Interns are assigned special projects and various duties crafted to provide them with practical professional work experience and a deep understanding of the industry. The core purpose of the internship is to cultivate talent by offering students hands-on experiential learning, structured formal training, and opportunities for interaction with healthcare professionals and community leaders. Interns will engage in impactful work alongside experienced professionals, allowing them to grasp Molina’s unique culture, Mission, and Values.

The Intern, Compliance specifically supports Molina Healthcare’s Compliance team. This team is a centralized corporate function responsible for managing compliance operations across all Molina product lines enterprise-wide and assisting individual state health plans. This internship role involves assisting the Compliance team in ensuring the organization’s strict adherence to internal policies, federal and state laws and regulations, and contractual requirements for government-sponsored healthcare programs. The position offers significant exposure to compliance operations, health plan operations, and regulatory requirements, while actively contributing to projects aimed at strengthening the company’s overall compliance framework.

Essential Job Duties

The Intern, Compliance will perform a variety of crucial tasks, including:

Conducting Regulatory Research: Performing in-depth research on regulations pertaining to government-sponsored healthcare programs, covering multiple lines of business and states.
Assisting with Report Preparation: Supporting the creation of various compliance reports, presentations, and essential documentation for both internal teams and external stakeholders.
Supporting Audits and Investigations: Providing assistance during audits, risk assessments, and investigations as required by the Compliance team.
Participating in Training: Attending compliance training sessions and actively contributing to the development of new training materials.
Maintaining Records: Ensuring the accuracy and organization of all compliance-related records and documentation.
Collaborating with Teams: Working effectively with cross-functional teams across the organization to address and resolve compliance-related inquiries.
Performing Administrative Tasks: Completing other administrative and project-based assignments as directed.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates who possess the following qualifications will be given preference:

Relevant Coursework/Certifications: Completion of coursework or holding certifications in areas such as Healthcare Compliance, Risk Management, Health Law or Medical Ethics, Quality Improvement, or Patient Safety.
Compliance Certification Progress: Demonstrating progress toward or expressing a strong interest in obtaining a compliance-related certification (e.g., CHC – Certified in Healthcare Compliance, CCEP – Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional).
Prior Experience: Previous internship or work experience within a legal, compliance, or audit environment.
Industry-Specific Knowledge: Familiarity with regulations specific to the healthcare industry.
Regulatory Audit Experience: Prior experience in regulatory audits.
GRC Systems Experience: Experience utilizing Governance Risk Compliance (GRC) systems.
Power BI Experience: Proficiency with Power BI, a business intelligence tool.

Qualifications (Required)

Applicants must meet the following mandatory criteria:

Current Enrollment: Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program.
Academic Pursuit: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in disciplines such as Law, Business Administration, Finance, Political Science, Public Policy, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
Academic Level: Must be a freshman, sophomore, or junior at the time of the internship.
Minimum GPA: A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Work Authorization: Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
Program Commitment: Ability to commit to the full-time, 10-week internship program, specifically from June 1st – August 7, 2026.
Prior Healthcare Exposure: Previous internship, volunteer work, or part-time employment experience in a healthcare setting.
Attention to Detail: Demonstrated strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Discretion: Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with the utmost discretion.
Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Interest in Field: A genuine interest in compliance, regulatory affairs, or corporate governance.
Independent Work: Ability to work independently and effectively set priorities.

Pay Range:

The hourly pay for this position ranges from $21.16 – $21.66 / HOURLY. Please note that actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level.
