Legal Internships and Fellowships – January 2027 Field Office Deployment | International Justice Mission
The Tone:
This is a 12-month legal internship or fellowship program at International Justice Mission, offering field office deployment in various global locations. IJM is the global leader in protecting vulnerable people from violence, with a team of over 1,200 professionals working in more than 30 offices worldwide. The organization is on a mission to rescue millions, protect half a billion, and make justice unstoppable. This role is crucial for assisting IJM national lawyers and legal teams in defending clients and pursuing justice on their behalf, contributing directly to the mission of reducing slavery and violence.

• Team: Assists IJM national lawyers and legal teams; reports to Field Office Director or Supervisor.
• Mission: Defend clients and seek justice on their behalf to protect vulnerable people from violence.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft software, Windows, Casework Tracking Management System.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Administrative Support: Help ensure the smooth administration of the legal team by managing documentation, providing administrative assistance to lawyers, and creating essential PowerPoint presentations.
• Legal Training: Support existing legal training sessions or conduct new ones for various stakeholders.
• Legal Research & Writing: Conduct thorough research on legal issues and draft comprehensive briefs crucial for the rescue and protection of victims, with specific focus depending on the casework type.
• Casework Management: Assist with the initial intake of cases, input detailed case information into the Casework Tracking Management System, and actively participate in legal strategy meetings.
• Operational Participation: Engage in critical operations briefings and debriefings to contribute to overall team effectiveness and learning.
The Must-Haves
• Background: For internships, a Bachelor’s degree is required. For fellowships, US applicants must be law school graduates, while non-US applicants must have completed a Bachelors of Law.
• Experience: The role accommodates varying levels of experience, primarily assisting legal teams. Candidates should possess strong organizational and administrative capabilities, demonstrating readiness to support legal operations effectively.
• Skills: Critical skills include meticulous attention to detail, proficiency in organizational and administrative tasks, and fluency in Spanish for positions located in Latin American offices. A mature orthodox Christian faith is a legal requirement for all employees, aligning with the organization’s mission and daily practices.
• Bonus: A strong preference for candidates with knowledge of Microsoft software and Windows operating systems.
