The Tone:
This is an internship at Forvis Mazars, located in Houston, TX. Forvis Mazars US is an independent member of a leading global professional services network, ranked among the largest public accounting firms in the United States with over 7,000 team members. This role offers valuable experience to help you explore a career in audit or tax within public accounting, providing exposure to various industries and allowing you to test your technical skills. You will contribute to client engagements and develop your skillset by working alongside senior staff and management personnel.
The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Type: Part-time or Full-time, Seasonal (Early-January through April 15th)
• Location: In-person, Houston, TX
• Mission: Gain valuable experience in audit or tax, contribute to client engagements, and develop skills under senior staff guidance.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office suite
What You’ll Actually Do
• Audit Testing: Complete audit testing on financial statement accounts such as cash, accounts payable, or fixed assets.
• Account Reconciliation: Work with client personnel to reconcile account differences and analyze financial data.
• Report Drafting: Help draft management letter comments and the audit report.
• Client Engagement: Participate in client meetings alongside Forvis Mazars partners and managers.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in a relevant Bachelor’s degree program, working toward CPA Exam eligibility, with satisfactory academic performance in major-related coursework and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
• Experience: Solid technical accounting knowledge.
• Skills: Effective time management, strong oral and written communication skills, ability to work well with a team as well as independently, problem-solving attitude, close attention to detail.
• Bonus: Strong computer skills preferred, including Microsoft Office suite; willingness to take initiative; ability to work under pressure and against deadlines; reliable transportation to and from your assigned office and for off-site meetings and events.
