This Accounting Intern position, located in Raleigh, NC, offers college students pursuing an accounting degree a crucial opportunity to gain practical experience within a technologically advanced and friendly environment. Interns will work directly on client engagements, contributing to audit, management services, or tax preparation projects. This role is designed to develop essential technical skills and professional qualifications, preparing individuals for a successful career in the accounting profession.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Evaluate: Assist in the study and evaluation of internal accounting controls for various clients.
• Prepare: Prepare financial statements in strict accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Reconcile: Examine client reconciliations of bank accounts and subsidiary accounts, diligently investigating any discrepancies found.
• Document: Schedule computations of accruals and thoroughly document their underlying support, also preparing comprehensive schedules for write-offs of prepaid expenses and deferred charges.
• Research: Identify, research, and assess various technical tax issues, providing critical information to senior staff members and assisting in the review of tax preparations.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a college degree with a major or concentration in accounting; candidates are required to provide their own housing and transportation for the duration of the internship, with an understanding that overnight travel may be necessary.
• Experience: Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and generally accepted auditing standards (GAAS), coupled with a working knowledge of federal and state income tax laws and regulations.
• Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, a proven practice of accuracy in dealing with numeric and alphabetic information, and proficiency in the use of available firm resources and computer software.
