Job Description:

National Public Media (NPM) Internship – New York Sales Office

Program Duration: October 6th, 2025 – April 17th, 2026
Department: Corporate Sponsorship Sales (representing NPR’s radio, podcast, digital, and events platforms)
Location: New York City (Hybrid – at least 2 days per week in office)

What the Intern Will Learn/Experience:

This internship offers exposure to a fast-paced media sales environment. The intern will support the sales team in various aspects of campaign management and client relations.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Supporting campaign management through the full sales cycle (proposal development, inventory and creative clearance, billing procedures, client reports) for both radio and digital platforms.
• Managing sponsor copy: copywriting, obtaining client approvals, and routing internally for production.
• Assisting in creating pitch decks and supporting materials for RFPs.
• Assisting with client prospecting, research, and presentations.
• Database management (SalesForce entry and maintenance, Trello, Magellan).
• Monitoring live campaign performance (digital + broadcast) and assisting with coordination with Digital Campaign Managers, issuing Radio logs/airchecks, building Campaign Wrap-Up decks, gathering assets for Brand Lift Studies.
• Providing administrative support (coordinating conference calls, events, and meetings).

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• Pursuing a major or has an interest in advertising, marketing, media sales, and/or media planning/buying.
• Detail-oriented, self-starter.
• Curious about the media industry.
• Able to multi-task and thrive under pressure.
• Experience or would like experience working in a fast-paced media sales or advertising agency environment.

Requirements:

Education: Must be a current student in an accredited degree program or a recent graduate of no more than 12 months from the month of the start of the internship.

Work Location: Hybrid Permitted: This is a hybrid permitted role. Some aspects of this role include duties that are better performed at an NPR facility. The employee will be required to be onsite at the New York City office at least 2 days per week. The employee must also reside in an NPM supported location based on the number of onsite days they choose.
Schedule:
• Preference: Tuesday and Wednesday full day in office per week.
• Minimum 20 hours total per week.
• Flexible based on the student’s schedule.
Job Type: Temporary (28-week) part-time internship.
Compensation: $20.00 per hour.

Interns automatically earn 3.08 hours of sick leave each pay period without any waiting time restrictions and can utilize paid administrative leave as necessary.
