The Tone:
This is an on-site internship at KPMG, a leading global firm known for its tax services. KPMG focuses on merging deep industry knowledge with cutting-edge technologies to develop innovative solutions for high-profile clients. This role is crucial for supporting the Legal Business Services practice, helping to optimize law department and law firm strategies, processes, and technology to address complex business opportunities and challenges.

• Mission: To support the optimization of law department and law firm strategies, processes, and technology, including the selection and implementation of legal technologies.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Execution Support: Help execute strategy, process, and technology optimization projects for law departments and law firms.
• Project Management: Support progress against project milestones to help ensure the timely completion of project deliverables.
• Technology Integration: Develop recommendations on how to integrate technology, process improvement, and change management activities.
• Data Analysis: Create and analyze metrics, performance measurements, requirements, reports, and recommendations related to management, organizational structure, and policies/procedures.
• Legal Technology: Support the selection, implementation, and optimization of legal technologies, including Generative AI, Workflow Automation, and various legal management systems.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Accounting, Data Science, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Pre-Law Studies, Public Policy/Government, Statistics, or an equivalent program. Candidates must have additional academic credits to complete after the internship before obtaining their degree and/or CPA eligibility requirements.
• Experience: Experience preparing and conducting business analysis, needs assessments, requirement analysis/definition, and cost-benefit analysis.
• Skills: Demonstrated quality service mindset; strong technical aptitude; critical thinking skills; business writing skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Access, Power BI), Alteryx, Tableau, artificial intelligence (AI), and similar data analysis and visualization tools. Excellent communication, time management, analytical, and leadership skills; flexibility; adaptability; and strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
• Bonus: Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above. Coursework or minor in Business Strategy, Business Intelligence/Business Analytics, Data Science, Data and Analytics, Statistics, Information Systems, Software Engineering, and/or Computer Science is preferred. Understanding of business transformation, functional processes, financial management, technology, resourcing, performance management, and change management relating to corporate legal departments, law firms, and other legal-sector related businesses is strongly preferred.
