Job Title: Intern
Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Local Health Department Manager, the Intern performs administrative work to support the County’s Local Health Department programs. This role involves performing a variety of duties across different departmental programs to provide a comprehensive understanding of how a Local Health Department functions.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• Performs general office support and clerical functions for the Local Health Department.
• Responds to telephone inquiries.
• Provides quality customer service to clients/patients visiting the Local Health Department.
• Assists the Communicable Disease Team with educational presentations.
• Assists the Communicable Disease Team with public and provider educational opportunities.
• Follows established records management laws and regulations regarding document destruction and retention.
• Sorts and files forms, reports, correspondence, and related documents.
• Examines letters, forms, documents, and reports for accuracy.
• Operates office machines including personal computer, photocopier, fax machine, multi-line telephone, and calculator.
• Assures the services delivered meet quality and timeliness standards.
• Communicates all changes and problems to supervisor.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Graduation from high school or GED.
• Must complete HIPPA Certification within the first week of employment.
• Must complete Confidentiality Training within the first week of employment.
