Join a Top 10 global design firm in their Plano, Texas buildings practice, which offers Buildings Engineering, Architecture, and Interior Design services. This practice has a long history and strong commitment to the education sector, known for creating high-performance and award-winning buildings and interiors. This is a multidisciplinary, team-based environment where collaboration is key among architects, engineers, interior designers, and project managers. They work together to create innovative and integrated solutions for a diverse range of clients.

The Summer Internship program runs from May 2026 through August 2026. Interns will collaborate across Stantec’s interdisciplinary, North American Buildings practice.

Stantec is seeking passionate interns with excellent design, modeling, organizational, and communication skills. These skills are essential for interacting within a multidisciplinary team of architectural/engineering/interior design professionals. Successful Interns will demonstrate creativity, curiosity, motivation, and the skills necessary to create conceptual models and advance design ideas with a team.

The Summer Internship Program includes:

  • Cross-office Internship Project
  • Educational lunch & learns/seminars
  • Participation in design presentations and dialogues

This program is designed to support exposure to the industry, leaders, and provide work experience towards licensure hours.

Your Key Responsibilities

As an Interior Design Intern, you will be a passionate, hard-working designer helping with various aspects of the design process:

  • Assisting in the design process and 3D development.
  • Selecting and ordering finishes.
  • Assisting in organizing and preparing for meetings.
  • Incorporating designs into Revit.
  • Helping to produce presentation materials.
  • Conducting basic interpretations of sketches, drawings, codes, program, and other similar material.
  • Supporting the project team in the development of interior design documentation and presentation materials.
  • Assisting in the development of a design through sketches, physical models, electronic models, diagrams, massing studies, and other visual formats to continue to project space planning, lighting, material selection, and furniture design.
  • Utilizing BIM technologies in the development of three-dimensional models of interiors and their components to develop construction documents.
  • Assisting in research of concept, benchmarks, materials, typology, and precedents.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Experience in Revit.
  • Experience preferred in Sketch-Up, Rhino, Illustrator, Photoshop, PowerPoint, and InDesign.

Education and Experience

  • Working towards an Interior Design degree from a CIDA-accredited institution.
  • Must be in the 3rd or 4th year of an undergraduate degree or in a Master’s program.

Work Environment

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements, including inclement weather.

Pay Transparency

In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Final compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. Certain roles at Stantec are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
