Innovation Management Program Intern | First Interstate Bank

The Tone:
This is an internship at First Interstate Bank, located in Billings, MT at the Great West Center. First Interstate Bank is a financial institution that evaluates and enables technology solutions through enterprise architecture practices, innovation efforts, and collaborative initiatives to improve systems, processes, and digital capabilities. This role contributes to the bank’s First Interstate Innovation Lab, which is dedicated to increasing organizational agility and facilitating the execution of innovation activities, ultimately realizing value for the bank and its clients. Interns will gain exposure to the intricacies of innovation efforts within a dynamic and heavily regulated business environment.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Idea Generation: Gather and develop innovative ideas for the bank’s initiatives.
• Market Research: Perform market and industry research to refine proposals for innovation initiatives.
• Initiative Coordination: Collaborate with the Innovation Lab Core Team to plan, execute, and document prioritized innovation initiatives.
• Project Support: Provide professional, reliable, and flexible support and assistance on various assigned tasks and projects within the department.
• Skill Development: Work to develop key skills, including analytics, customer service, and business etiquette, while learning banking functions and best practices.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-level position, ideal for current college students. Requires an Associate’s Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, OR completion of 2-3 years of college.
• Experience: No prior professional experience required; the internship provides hands-on experience in innovation management, research, and analysis.
• Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong analytical skills, detail-oriented, and organized.
